RSVP – The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program helps individuals age 55 and older put their skills and life experience to work for their communities. RSVP helps seniors stay active and involved. The number of hours a RSVP volunteer serves is flexible. The areas of greatest need are listed below. Volunteer Opportunities

SPECIAL PROJECTS

are on-going as the need arises with different agencies.  Examples of special projects are:

Borders Music, Movies & Books Gift Wrap, Spring & Fall Senior Expo

Fresh Hop Festival

And many more!!

 

ENTERTAINERS

are always in need to entertain at assisted living, senior centers and other activities.

 

TUTORS

are in greatly needed for elementary, high school and groups with special needs.  We look for tutors year round.

 

FOOD BANKS

Many Food Banks in the Yakima County are in need of your assistance. Volunteers help sort and distribute food.  Please let us know if you would like to volunteer.

 

ASSISTED LIVING & RETIREMENT CENTERS

 in both the upper and lower valley are in need of caring volunteers to do one-on-one socializing with clients. This includes reading to them, playing games, crafts and other various fun activities. They also need help with group activities and outings.

SHIBA

(Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors), counseling and education services are FREE.  It’s 100 percent impartial – no SHIBA advisor has any affiliation with any insurance company or product.

SHIBA is non-profit, volunteer-based service developed precisely to give YOU answers. Statewide Health Insurance benefits Advisors are trained to provide YOU with the education, information about options, and referrals you need to make smart, cost-effective, low-risk choices about health insurance. 

 

PROJECT WARM-UP

Anyone who knits or crochets, or would like to learn to knit or crochet, is invited to join this worthy project.  Project Warm-Up volunteers knit and crochet numerous items such as hats, mittens, booties, lap robes, etc., to be donated to the needy.  Yarn is provided free and can be delivered to homebound volunteers.
